Vector Prime written by: R.A. Salvatore

vp.gif (2913 bytes)The newly acclaimed book by R.A. Salvatore entitled Vector Prime kicks off the new series Star Wars: The New Jedi Order. Vector Prime takes place approximately 21 years after the battle of Endor. Just in case you didn’t know, Mara Jade and Luke Skywalker are married, but Mara has a very rare disease that is threatening her life. At this time Jaina is serving her apprenticeship under Mara and Jacen and Anakin are serving under Luke.

In the beginning of the book Leia, Jaina, Mara and of course C-3PO are heading towards Rhommamool to talk to their leader Nom Anor about a peace agreement between them and the Osarian planet. Right off the Mara’s ship the Jade Sabre is trying to be shot down because the Osarian’s want to talk to Leia and company first. Since they are being attacked one of the "rogue Jedi" are coming to their rescue. The major difference between the Rhommamoolians and the Osarian’s is that while the Osarian’s thrive on technology like most of the other planets and Rhommamool doesn’t but instead uses creatures from nature. When they leave they have made no progress with a peace settlement with the Rhommamoolians and Osarians. Later on you learn that Anakin and Jacen are having a fluid argument about whether the force should be used more like a tool to use when in need or something to help strengthen the mind and meditate more than practicing with the lightsaber. After all of these incidents they decide that they are going to go to Lando’s to take a so-called vacation. Lando has a thing called the Belt Runner where you try to pilot out of some asteroids and get the best time. This isn’t nearly as dangerous as when Han did a similar thing in The Empire Strikes Back because they have modified Tie Fighters that have reinforced shields from the ship Belt Runner I. Of course the three Solo kids want to try this but when it comes to Han and Chewie it’s less than an admirable flight you could say. The rest of the story you could say is the most intriguing part of the book so I would rather not ruin the fun for you.

Vector Prime by R.A. Salvatore has be one of the best Star Wars books I have read because I literally could not put this book down, so I suggest you read this book immediately.
